Concerts in the piazza, evenings at the theatre, musical events, dinners with friends, romantic dates….the important thing is to celebrate the new year. In Tuscany, there is no shortage of opportunities to celebrate.
The most exciting events take place in the piazzas, which have more tourists than citizens even during the daytime. On San Silvestro, people put on their best clothing to bring in the New Year. An event that is not to be missed is the concert in Piazza del Campo in Siena. There are artists like Mauro Pagani and his band, Cristina Donà and Manuel Agnelli from Afterhours, Laura Pausini, Carmen Consoli and Bregovic, and other great names from the Italian and international music scene.
Piazza Aretina and Piazza della Libertà’s events are always interesting. Whoever decides to start the new year in Florence can choose between programs that include theatre and a concert with a toast at midnight and parties in the most important places in the city. One of the most well-known parties takes place is at the Fortezza.
Another idea: take a walk and visit the Florentine piazzas, which are regularly invaded by Florentines and tourists. Go with a bottle of champagne. There you will find music and events for all tastes. If you go to the Tuscan coast instead, you can walk along a beach at sunset and stop at Lucca in the evening. Lucca offers parties in Piazza Napoleone with music and different events. In Pisa you can walk along the Arno and perhaps under the Leaning Tower before or after midnight.
Finally, the vast offer of villas, farms, and agriturismos which have special menus is for those who prefer a more peaceful evening celebrated as a couple or with friends.
