Arezzo is amid Casentino, Valdarno, Valdichiana and Valtiberina. Its origins are Etruscan; now it is famous for its goldsmith production and artistic heritage: it is enough to mention one name, Piero della Francesca. Thick woods with places symbolic of Christianity, like La Verna and Camaldoli. The Arno originates here, on Mount Falterona, in the Park of Casentino Woods. Castles pop up here and there: Poppi, Stia, Romena and Pratovecchio. Sansepolcro, Monterchi, Anghiari and Cortona are worth a visit. At the border with Umbria, Marche and Emilia, it is also crossed by the Tevere in the Valtiberina region.
