A playbill made of events the explore areas of research and borderline territories, highly engaging, sometimes dangerous. A review that aims to reveal the more genuine and real stories, methods and forms of theatre in Tuscany, that of the Pisan outback. It is not by chance that Volterrateatro has has chosen the subheading of The Theatres of the Impossible.
During the course of the Festival, which will be held from July 14 to 27, 2008 in Volterra, Pomarance, Castelnuovo, Montecatini Val di Cecina and Monteverdi Marittimo, spaces will be granted to projects featuring laboratories, presentations and encounters, which will allow the public to come into contact with, to deepen and share the experience of the guest artists.
Among these in this edition number 22, Rick Cluchey stands out, American actor and former prisoner sentenced to life, who founded the renowned Company of San Quentin after being dazzled by the texts of Beckett.
This year’s festival also dedicates a special project to over twenty years of theatre by the Company della Fortezza, the Company composed of actors who are prisoners in the prisons of Volterra and guided by Director Armando Punzo, who can boast the performance of such critically and publicly acclaimed works as Marat Sade, I Negri, L’Orlando Furioso, I Pescecani.
This year the Company della Fortezza will present to the audience of the Volterra Teatro the final version of Pinocchio – Lo Spettacolo della Ragione and Progetto Beckett – Cap.1 – L’Ultimo nastro di Krapp, the first of a series of monologues performed on stage by the prisoner authors and inspired by the works of Beckett.
Finally among the companies appearing will be the young talents of the Babilonia Theatres, the Scudella Roverato Company and, for the lovers of music, the multi-ethnic concert of the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio.
