Imagine walking around the old streets in the centre of Cascina and bumping into bizarre personalities who are intent on reciting their poetic verses to the world or a myriad of musicians who are lost in jazz, rock and blues improvisations, actors, and video installations from all over the world. This is what is set to happen in the small Pisan village during the weekend of 19 and 20 July (21:00-24:00), when the village will be assailed upon by the seventh edition of the Malastrana Festival, a big event that is open to everyone and is completely free, dedicated to “free creativity”, as asserted by its artistic director, the actor Vincenzo Cirillo. The aim of the Festival is actually to spread art in the most sincere and spontaneous way possible, without the obligations imposed by commercialisation. It will completely invade the streets, squares and cultural spaces of Cascina with happenings, exhibitions, concerts and representations like a flooding river. Among the many guests, the highlights are the American Honeyburn, who will play his “charango”, a curious Bolivian instrument with ten chords; the jazz-rock-pop quartet This Harmony; the young singer and Roman poet Giulia Anania; the musical duet Piet Mondrian with their raw and high impact rock; Vincenzo Cirillo with his politically denouncing show “Uzzu Lu Re”. There will be no barriers between the artists and the audience, who can express themselves in turn in complete freedom in the Videobox room. All the video messages will then be collected and put on the website www.video-box.eu. For information: MalastranaFestival web: www.malastranafestival.it e-mail: ombradipeter@hotmail.com
