The small-big “Republic of the Middle Age” in the heart of the Colline Metallifere. This small town has a 2000-year old history and in 1200 minted its own coin. At an altitude of 400 metres, it is divided into the “old town”, with a magnificent Cathedral and a Keep, and the “new town” developed in 1228. The several local caves and their products were part of the history of Massa Marittima as well.
