This is the only municipality completely in the area of Classic Chianti. It has Roman origins. The town centre is characterised by an asymmetric square surrounded by arcades and closed by the Church of Propositura and the Civic Building. In its environs there are Montefioralle, Monte San Michele, Lucole and Panzano.
