It is on a hill, six kilometres far from Florence of which it is a natural landscape terrace. It was a very important Etruscan town; Piazza Mino is its centre, with the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace and Town Hall. From the main square you can climb up to the Monastery of Saint Francis or visit the archaeological zone, including the Roman Theatre, the remains of a necropolis, the Roman spas and the Etruscan walls. The hill is dotted with houses where tourists have been living since 1800.
