Ten shows in the villages of the Sienese Chianti (Radda in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, Castellina in Chianti and Castelnuovo Berardenga) to provide artistic emotions in the hot summer evenings with ethnic music, classical music, music from films, dance, original music, jazz and short performances. The Chianti Festival, which has reached its 9th edition, returns on Thursday 3 to 26 July and is ready to offer new high quality shown with the artistic direction of Marco Parri.
The tributes to two great personalities of Italian music, Fabrizio De Andrè and Giorgio Gaber, stand out on the playbill, which is rich in all types of artistic events, as well as to the choreographer Maurice Bejart, who passed away last November, with interpretations by Raffaele Paganini and Grazia Galante, the muse of the French artist. The Chianti Festival will also propose the mobile exhibition of Zastava Orkestar, with the rhythmic and dance music of a brass, wind and percussion band, whose musicians love to call themselves “Zzzingheri di Maremma”, in tribute to their homeland; the Achille Campanile theatre, the leading stage school of the absurd and humorist that knows how to gather together the paradoxes of daily life; a show by the Mvula Sungani dance company accompanied by the music performed live by the Nino Rota Ensemble and inspired by the famous soundtracks of Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, John Williams and Nicola Piovani; the performance by Francesco Maccianti, the Florentine pianist who will perform jazz music while also playing some of his own compositions.
The event will also dedicate space to the Tuscany Regional Orchestra (ORT), which will manage the event, with the playing of the ORT’s wind and piano quintet, formed by the excellent first players of the Tuscany Orchestra and a single group of three ORT musicians, “Two violins and marimba”. The closure of the Chianti Festival will be marked with tango, with a passionate journey towards the Argentine soul, accompanied by the music of Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Gardel, Esteban Gutierrez and Luis Corallini.
